Who do you turn to when life is at its worst? Is there a refuge when the lightning of bitterness flashes, the thunder of hatred rolls, and the shadows of loneliness fall across your path? Be encouraged. There are two words that I wish to highlight from the Psalm 91:4, feathers and wings. Often, we don’t differentiate between feathers and wings, but in this we will try to understand what the Lord would like to teach us through them. Feathers are generally soft and gentle and can be compared to the love of God. Wings on the other hand are tough and can be compared to the firmness that the Lord displays toward His children. While feathers give us the comfort, wings give us the strength that we need.

We will therefore, correlate feathers to the grace of God and wings to the truth of God. Just as wings without the feathers will be of no use, so also feathers without wings would be futile.  Every Christian is born a warrior: it is his destiny to be assaulted; it is his duty to attack. Fear is the fruit of unbelief, and it opens the door of your life to the devil. Sixty-three times in the Bible, the Lord used the phrase, “Fear not.”

Here is a quote from a man by the name of Robert Murray M’Cheyne. He said: “You will never find Jesus so precious as when the world is one vast howling wilderness. Then he is like a rose blooming during the desolation, a rock rising above the storm.” This might sound like a contradiction by when I had nothing I found his blessings and I look into his eyes because I could not find it in myself. I am Finding our Rest, Renewal and Healing, in HIM.I am still learning these lessons. Maybe you are too. But our Savior is a gentle instructor. When we submit ourselves to the LORD and come under HIS protection, there is nothing in this world to fear. Let your faith arise and be a praise in these times. For GOD is your Rescue, Protection and Shield, and HE will see you through.
