As you develop your relationship with God, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, there will be a marked change in your attitude toward everything.

The Holy Spirit’s power is more than just to enable us to do the supernatural. He empowers us for the journey from doing what pleases the flesh to what pleases God. This is not an easy journey but it is also not a lonely journey. We have been given the Holy Spirit and we have been given the church to help us develop into the person God intends.

The fruit of our Lord will grow in us as we grow in him.

The fruit of the Spirit is not an optional extra for believers but must be evident in all we say and do. Defeat the flesh by depending on the Spirit: live by the Spirit and so conquer the desires of the flesh; be led by the Spirit and so conquer the deeds of the flesh; and walk with the Spirit and so enjoy the death of the flesh.

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.

Help me to mute my sinful root. I pray to bear much fruit to Your praise and glory. Therefore, I commit myself to bring forth the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

Our deeds and virtues hold a beautiful romance to increase the harvest. I renounce and turn from the fruit of the flesh because I belong to Christ and have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts. I am not flawless but You loved me regardless.

Father, in Jesus’ name, I thank You for filling me with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that I may walk worthy as a true disciple of You, Lord, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You without seeking nobody else approval, Amen.
