The names of God are His powerful attributes. “Rock” creates a tremendous picture of strength, endurance, and reliability. Steady as a rock. Strong as a rock. Firm as a rock. Our God can be depended upon because He is the beginning and the end! Come share your thoughts on God our Rock.
You have two choices in how you live your life. You can run to the rock and live in a place of refuge, rest, protection, and hope or you can live outside that. If you are in Christ and you refuse to run to God for refuge, then you are living outside of your privilege. God desires to be the rock in your life. He wants to hide you in him and be your place of safety. In a world where things are changing right before our eyes, it is good to know that we can be hidden in God who is our rock
The Lord id my Rock – (Psam 18:2)
David found shelter from the blistering sun in the shadow of a rock, and he would have found protection in its crack and crevasses on cold winter nights. He would also have found the rock to be a firm place on which to stand firm in the midst of a battle. No doubt would have recalled the Rock in the wilderness from which poured forth streams of living water for his forefathers. NO DOUBT who and what the Lord is.
We don’t think off a rock that we can put in our pocket or a rock that we put behind the car wheel to stop it from rolling. No we think of a unmovable ROCK!!! THE ROCK.
We are told to build on the foundation of Christ, our solid rock. There are three things that are essential in order for us to build. They are the Book, the blood, and the blessed hope.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God has unparalleled majesty, power, and endurance. There is no one like him. Therefore we hold-fast to “The Rock” and shout and proclaim like a rock band “THE LORD IS MY ROCK!!”
God is higher, He is bigger, He is greater, and He provides more protection than every mountain combined. Jesus is the rock where salvation is found. Seek Him, repent, and trust in Him.
Jesus taught that those who listened to His teachings and applied them to their lives were like those who build their house on a solid foundation. Those who ignore Him and choose to live life their own way are like those who build their house on the sand.
Faith, hope, love, peace, patience, joy, courage, and confidence can all be shaken or taken away when they are placed in the wrong things. Trusting in the promises of God, however, produces confidence in God’s power, God’s protection, and God’s provision.
My soul, put your hope in God
My help, my rock, I will praise Him
Sing, sing through the raging storm let’s rock let Roll with Him
Prayer
Lord, allow me to increase my faith and obedience to You in every area of life. God, I know I will face people who mistreat me because I serve You. However I know that without You, I am nothing. I am holding on to my Rock, my fortress my shield. I give my life into Your hands. Come in and take control. I don’t want my fleshly desires put a price on my soul, because You are my Rock
We can face unknown situations with confidence because You God is with us. You God, You are my rock, and my refuge. Open my eyes to the world’s subterfuge.
Our Father, our refuge in the storms of life, we thank you for your protection. I pray You will provide me with the strength to pursue peace and wisdom to handle the situation. I have No hesitation to walk by faith today until we reach our final destination.
Like the open cactus flower leaning against the rocks, Lord, help us to lean on you. You are our rock when we are lost, afraid, and confused. We praise and worship You. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen
Psalm 18:2
- The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety
